Timaru District is located in the Central South Island, 2 hours drive south of Christchurch, 2.5 hours north of Dunedin and 1.5 hours from Lake Tekapo/Takapō.

Air New Zealand offers daily domestic flights between Timaru and Wellington with connecting flights from most other regional centres. The scheduled flight time for Wellington to Timaru is 80 minutes. Timaru city is located a 10-minute drive from Timaru’s CBD.
